Veterinary Schools in Italy

4 researched institutions with a campus here, offering 5 veterinary programs. This is the research done to date, not a complete list of every program.

How results are ordered: alphabetically by institution, or by most recently checked when you choose that sort. There is no price ranking, because tuition in different currencies, fee categories and bases (per year, per credit, whole program) is not comparable. Adjacent subjects such as pre-veterinary or animal science appear only when you choose a subject. A value we could not verify is shown as “not published”, never as “no”. Items marked Sponsored are paid placements; they never change accreditation information, verification or order. Online programs are not counted as physically located in a state or city, and an institution’s location does not tell you whether it enrols students from your country.

About veterinary education in Italy

How veterinary education is organised

Veterinary medicine is a five-year single-cycle master's degree (laurea magistrale a ciclo unico, class LM-42, 300 credits) with nationally programmed access. From the 2025 reform, admission to the second semester follows a national 'filter semester' defined by ministerial decree DM 418 of 30 May 2025.

Qualification structures

Names and levels are local to Italy. Similar names in other countries are not interchangeable.

Laurea magistrale a ciclo unico in Medicina veterinaria (LM-42)
Five-year, 300-CFU single-cycle degree; graduates enter the profession of Medico Veterinario. Universities describe it as a qualifying course (corso abilitante). Source

Bodies that matter, and what each one does

Accreditation, validation, education authority and registration are different roles. Do not read a listing by one body as evidence from another.

Ministero dell'Università e della Ricerca (MUR)
Sets the national programmed admission rules and the filter-semester decree for veterinary medicine.
EAEVE / ESEVT
European evaluation of the veterinary education establishments; outcome status per university published in the EAEVE table.

Route to registration

Current rules as described by the official source; always check the authority directly.

Pisa states that its degree qualifies for the practice of the veterinary profession; Federico II cites Legislative Decree 652/2022 as making the master's directly qualifying without an additional licensing exam. Registration with the professional order was not researched. Source

No degree on this site automatically permits anyone to practise as a veterinarian, and nothing here is visa, work-permit or credit-transfer advice.

Languages and admissions

Teaching languages. Italian is the usual language of instruction; Federico II announces a new English-taught veterinary degree for 2026/27 (20 places).

Admissions. Access is nationally programmed; the number of places per university is published each year in the call. Registration for the admission process is through Universitaly. Source
